When I started making animated films in 2015, I was immediately captured by this wonderful and versatile form of art. I loved to spend days and nights secluded in my room, talking to no one but the microphone and only focusing on the minimalist movement of my character's noses. I used to do every part of the process myself, from drawing to voice acting to music. This gave me great pleasure. But one reason for doing it all by myself was also my fear of criticism. Often, little comments would take me away from my own ideas. This fear of failure is still there today but I have found a way of handling it and finding joy and inspiration in the exchange with a team. In the masterclass I will share my experiences with different methods of creating a film and try to answer questions like: How to deal with the occasional lack of motivation and ideas? And how can a playful and humorous approach to animation still be possible after years?
