Orsolya Láng (HUN/ROU)

Orsolya was born in Szatmárnémeti, and brought up in Marosvásárhely, where she completed the Secondary School of Art specializing in graphic design. Later she graduated from the Film, Photography and Media programme of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca, with her short film Stones (Kövek). In filmmaking, she is mostly interested in exploring the possibilities of documentary and portrait genres. She gained her master's degree at the Animation programme of MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest). Her animated short Off Season (Szezon után) was awarded at several international and Hungarian festivals (first at Primanima). She is currently a doctoral candidate at MOME, focusing on Eastern European original animations from the '70s and '80s. She also writes fiction, having published four volumes: Milk Sculpture (Tejszobor), Intercostal (Bordaköz), One-way Stickers (Pályamatricák), and Personal Reasons (Személyes okok). She created experimental book trailers, and works as a freelance graphic artist and illustrator. She prefers hand-drawn methods to digital solutions, and is interested in analogue techniques and unique approaches.
